Advanced users can also upload the content of the .zip file directly to wp-content/plugins/ via FTP.

Setting up Twitch Integration

The new Twitch API requires a valid Twitch Authentication Token sent with every request, in order to pull data from Twitch. In order for you to get an Auth Token, you must create your own Twitch Application on dev.twitch.tv. This process takes only a few minutes and is fairly simple.

You can follow along with our text guide: How to create a Twitch Authentication Token.

You can also check out our instructional video on the StreamWeasels YouTube.

Once your Auth token is set up and connected you can begin embedding content into your site.

Using Twitch Integration

You can insert a Twitch Integration anywhere on your site by using the [streamweasels] shortcode. The basic shortcode will use the options as set in your twitch integration settings page but for a guide on how to customise the shortcode for each embed click here.

Combine features

The filters that can be set up in twitch integration can be combined for some useful and powerful applications on your site. Here are some real examples from some of the many StreamWeasels Twitch Integration users.

  • Display all users from a Twitch Team but only if they’re playing League of Legends.
  • Display 100 GTA V Streamers but only if they have NoPixel in their Stream Title.
  • Display all users from a Twitch Team but only if they have #LGBTQ+ in their Stream Title.
  • Display all streamers playing Music but only if they have Requests in their Stream Title.

You can click here to see some real world examples of combining the Game and Title Filter tag.

Combine layouts

Another way you can use StreamWeasels Twitch Integration is to combine multiple layouts on a single page. For example, you can add two shortcodes to a single page with different layouts, and use them to feature different streamers.

A great example of this is to use Twitch Feature to showcase some of your most popular streamers, with Twitch Wall on the same page to display the rest. You can see this combination of layouts in action here.

Upgrade your Twitch Integration package

The free version of StreamWeasels Twitch Integration comes with a limit on the number of streams you can display at one time, and also most of the custom features and settings are disabled.
